Pollen vs Wix
Wix is a hosted website and business-services platform, while Pollen exports a focused product site. Consider Wix for bookings, commerce or visitor-agent actions. Pollen fits when you want one of three composed designs as portable HTML and can arrange the rest of publication yourself.

Choose Wix when
Choose Wix for a hosted business website whose forms, bookings, commerce or documented visitor-agent tools matter to the customer journey.
Choose Pollen when
Choose Pollen for a static product presentation and independent hosting, without committing to a hosted business-service stack.
Decide whether the site presents the product or operates the business
A brochure page and an appointment business have different requirements. Wix’s plans and business platform cover more than the page design, including options for commerce and services. Check whether those features fit your actual job. A product needing inventory or booking rules cannot replace them with a decorative button.
Pollen produces a product site in SaaS, Consumer or Portfolio style. It carries your copy, supplied design assets and optional public email contact in one HTML file. It does not provide checkout, scheduling, customer accounts or a hosted database. That is a useful smaller scope when you need a public introduction and will keep the product itself elsewhere.
Before comparing, describe one visitor journey from arrival to completion. For a consultation business, include availability, booking confirmation and changes. For a static product page, the complete journey may end at a contact email. Choose the platform that covers that journey rather than the longest feature list.
Compare the editor and the production design you will maintain
Wix Studio presents a responsive design environment aimed at professional site work, connected to Wix’s wider platform. Evaluate the specific editor and plan; Wix workflows have different controls. A designer maintaining many pages has a different requirement from a founder selecting a single composed introduction.
Pollen supplies the composition up front. Its three previews let you compare a layered SaaS presentation, a sculptural Consumer direction and a watercolor Portfolio direction using your actual copy. The current form does not supply equivalent freedom to create a new page system. If you need custom sections or exact corporate components, include the work to edit exported source or use a broader visual editor.
Wix documents visitor actions that a Pollen export does not supply
Wix Site MCP is a documented interface for visitors’ agents. Its examples include retrieving business details, discovering products, booking services and starting a purchase. An external MCP client acts as an anonymous visitor, not as a dashboard administrator. This is a materially different capability from asking an agent to design a page.
Wix also documents an in-browser WebMCP path using the visitor’s session. A logged-in member’s experience can differ from an anonymous visitor’s, and the visitor reviews and completes transactions. Compatibility depends on supported agents and models. Inspect your site’s actual tools and permissions. We did not test bookings or purchases.
Pollen’s MCP operates the builder: it creates a draft and returns HTML. The file contains semantic content and structured business details, but no visitor-facing MCP service. If your requirement is an agent booking an appointment, Wix’s documented path belongs on the shortlist. If an agent preparing your public product page is enough, Pollen’s narrower workflow may fit.
Owning the domain does not make a Wix site portable
Wix’s help says its standard sites depend on Wix services and must operate on Wix servers. You can register the domain elsewhere, but that does not turn the website into a static bundle for another host. An embedded copy is not a supported substitute for moving the site and its services.
Pollen’s output is the opposite publication arrangement: the file is yours to place on an appropriate host, while Pollen does not provide that host. Independent hosting transfers responsibility for deployment, domain configuration and maintenance to you or your developer. Choose that arrangement because you need it, not because portability by itself makes a booking system or storefront easy to replace.
Price the required Wix services, not a generic starting plan
Wix’s pricing page describes included hosting and custom-domain support, with plan differences for business functionality. It also says the final price appears during purchase. Regional currency, billing term and taxes affect a quote, so this guide does not invent a matched annual dollar total. Check the current checkout for the exact site, term and required service scope.
Budget domain renewals, business email, apps and operational services separately. For Pollen, include independent hosting and any service needed beyond an email contact. Pollen has no published paid plan. A lower-scope static page and a functioning commerce platform are not equivalent packages even when both show the same product headline.
Plan a rebuild around the business records and customer actions
When leaving Wix, inventory the pages and the specific apps the site depends on. Identify where products, bookings, contacts and submissions live, and check each service’s actual export procedure. The external-hosting restriction means you should plan a replacement front end, not promise that a website ZIP will reproduce the Wix business system. Keep original records and account access until the replacement works.
A move to Pollen should have a deliberately narrower brief: the product introduction and contact route, with operational services retained or replaced elsewhere. If moving from Pollen to Wix, recreate the design and wire up the required apps before connecting the production domain. Verify one real customer journey, preserve important URLs and redirects, and keep the previous page available for rollback. Domain transfer and website replacement are separate decisions.
Questions before choosing
Does Wix’s agent support mean an agent can access my dashboard?
Not through the visitor interfaces described here. External Site MCP clients act as anonymous visitors. WebMCP follows the browser visitor’s session, including the member’s permitted experience after login. Private administration is a different permission boundary.
Can I move my Wix website to a cheaper static host?
Wix’s standard site architecture requires Wix hosting. Moving to a static host means rebuilding the front end and replacing dependent services. You may keep your domain, but that does not transfer the site’s application behavior.
Should I choose Wix or Pollen for appointment booking?
Evaluate Wix when integrated bookings and a documented visitor-agent path are requirements. Pollen’s current export has no booking engine. You could link to an independently chosen booking service, but that would be a separate integration and cost, not a built-in Pollen feature.
Can Pollen’s structured data replace Wix Site MCP?
No. Pollen’s WebPage/Organization data makes supplied business facts explicit. A visitor-facing tool executes a supported action with its own permissions and backend. Readable facts, agent-assisted building and agent-operated transactions solve different parts of the journey.
